Apple and Cherry Turnovers – No Added Sugar Apple turnovers are a fruity snack perfect for any time of the day. While homemade turnovers taste best when warm, they’re also great for on the go. Making them yourself isn’t difficult at all, and they turn out great with xylitol. You can also bake these little pastries with a delicious cherry filling! Make your own apple and cherry turnovers without added sugar For our low-carb fruit turnovers, we use a quark-oil dough made with wholemeal flour and fill them with delicious Xucker fruit spread. Instructions

1. For the dough, combine spelt flour, baking powder, salt, Xucker Premium, low-fat quark, butter, and milk in a bowl. Knead into a smooth dough and refrigerate for at least an hour.
2. Preheat the oven to 170 °C (fan-assisted).
3. After resting, knead the dough again thoroughly and roll it out as thin as possible. Cut out circles using a cup or bowl. To ensure the turnovers have the right balance of dough and filling, the circles should be about 15 cm in diameter.
4. Place about 2 teaspoons of fruit spread on one half of each dough circle, then add a few apple cubes or cherries. Brush the edges with milk and fold into a half-moon shape. Seal the edges with a fork.
5. Brush the turnovers with a little milk and optionally sprinkle with some Xucker Bronxe. Bake the apple and cherry turnovers for about 18 minutes and enjoy them best while still warm.
