Low carb nut slices
Anyone craving nut slices can quickly run to the bakery or supermarket and buy the delicious pastry. The big drawback, as always, is the sugar used. A bakery nut slice contains a whopping 30g of sugar – that's equivalent to 10 sugar cubes.
Low carb nut slices recipe without added sugar
We much prefer our homemade low carb nut slices with just 1.3g of sugar. An added advantage: the kitchen smells wonderfully of roasted nuts and fresh pastry!
In the recipe, we use Xucker Plum fruit spread. However, you can use any other fruit spread.
Instructions
1. For the base, knead all the ingredients into a shortcrust pastry and chill briefly.
2. In the meantime, prepare the topping. To do this, mix all the ingredients except the fruit spread together and set aside. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) top and bottom heat.
3. Now roll out the shortcrust pastry into a rectangle (approx. 25 × 30 cm) and place it on a baking sheet with a sheet of baking paper. Spread the fruit spread on top and crumble, distribute, and press down the nut topping. Now, the baking sheet goes into the oven for 20-25 minutes.
4. While still warm, cut 18 triangles from the pastry and then let them cool completely. Then melt the chocolate drops and coat two corners of each Low Carb Nut Slice with chocolate.
